1979 – The total number of points accumulated by Jorge Lorenzo in his Grand Prix career. A win for Lorenzo at the British GP and he will become just the 10th rider in the 63 year history of world championship motorcycle racing to pass the milestone of 2000 Grand Prix points.
100 – At the British Grand Prix, Andrea Iannone is scheduled to make his 100th Grand Prix start. Iannone made his Grand Prix debut in the 125cc class at the opening race of the 2005 season at Jerez. He made 77 starts in the 125cc class before moving up to the Moto2 class last year.
25 – In addition to Jorge Lorenzo’s great winning record since the start of last year, he has also shown great consis- tency and has finished in the top four at the last 25 races, a sequence that started at the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2009. Since the world championship series started in 1949, only Valentino Rossi has had a longer sequence of top four finishes in the premier-class with 28.
20 – Pol Espargaro will celebrate his 20th birthday on the first day of practice at the British Grand Prix.
6 years – On race day at Silverstone it will be exactly six years ago to the day at the Catalan Grand Prix in 2005 that Dani Pedrosa won the 250cc race followed home by Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso. This was the first all- teenage podium in the 250cc class.
5 – Nico Terol has finished either first or second at each of the opening five races of the year. This is the first time since Haruchika Aoki in 1996 that a rider has opened the season with five successive podium finishes in the 125cc class.
5 – At the Catalan GP, Stefan Bradl became the first rider to have five successive poles in the intermediate-class since Toni Elias in 2003. If Bradl qualifies on pole at the British GP it will be the longest run of successive poles in the interme- diate-class since Max Biaggi started on pole at seven successive 250cc races in 1995.
4 – Stefan Bradl’s victory at the Catalan GP was his fourth win since moving up to the intermediate-class of GP racing, which is just one less win than achieved by his father Helmut Bradl who scored five wins in the 250cc class in the 1991 season when he finished second in the overall championship classification.
3 – With Dani Pedrosa winning in Estoril and Casey Stoner following up with wins at Le Mans and Catalunya, Honda have won three successive MotoGP races for the first time in the 800cc era of MotoGP.
3 – Just three riders have scored points at every one of the five Moto2 races this year: Stefan Bradl, Simone Corsi and Alex de Angelis.
1 – Ian McConnachie (Krauser) is the only British rider to win a Grand Prix race for solo motorcycles around the Silvers- tone circuit, having won the 80cc GP race in 1986.
