The championship will still begin on April 9th in Holland (Easter Monday, in the sand of Valkenswaard) and maintains the plan of three events that month, two in May and three in June. The series finale has shifted from October 14th to September 23rd with extra dates in July and September now squeezing the calendar up and ensuring the Motocross of Nations (at Lommel in Belgium) occurs before October and the crucial end-of-season contract time for AMA riders. There will be only eight free weekends separating all seventeen stops on the schedule with Russia coming into play for the second time this century and Mexico confirmed for the central city of Queretaro.
