Double FIM MX2 World Champion Jeffrey Herlings admitted there is no deadline for his decision over the category he will contest for the 2015 campaign. The Red Bull KTM rider has one more year in orange under his current contract and scored his fifth MX2 Grand Prix victory from six events last weekend at Valkenswaard for his home round.

Herlings commented: “We had so much trouble at the start of the season because of injuries so we haven’t sat down to speak about next year yet. I still have a contract with KTM and will definitely be with KTM next year but there are no plans for MXGP or MX2 yet.”

The nineteen year old has been utterly dominant in the category since winning his first crown in 2012. In fact he is unbeaten in every Grand Prix he has contested since the start of 2013; a run of 20 meetings to-date. Herlings missed the Brazilian round due to a shoulder muscle injury but still leads the standings by 15 points from Arnaud Tonus. He has spoken publicly about moving to MXGP (where he would have options of 350 or 450SX-F material and could work out of the same side of the Red Bull awning, as KTM have already admitted) but also voiced the possibility of staying in MX2 and continuing to give KTM immense title options in both principal classes.

“We are going to speak about it soon but I don’t have a deadline,” he added. “I can’t really say any more at the moment because I just don’t know.”
